The Nevers

An epic tale following a gang of Victorian women who find themselves with unusual abilities, relentless enemies, and a mission that might change the world.

Pivotal Film's Role

August, 1896. Victorian London is rocked to its foundations by a supernatural event which gives certain people — mostly women — abnormal abilities, from the wondrous to the disturbing. But no matter their particular “turns,” all who belong to this new underclass are in grave danger. It falls to mysterious, quick-fisted widow Amalia True (Laura Donnelly) and brilliant young inventor Penance Adair (Ann Skelly) to protect and shelter these gifted “orphans.” To do so, they will have to face the brutal forces determined to annihilate their kind.

Having worked previously with Director of Photography; Seamus McGarvey BSC ASC, we were honoured to be selected to continue that relationship on The Nevers. Our role on this was to create aerial shots which could be used to enhance the mystery and otherworldliness of the series and develop a sense of the magical.

Zone 414 is an upcoming American science fiction thriller film written by Bryan Edward Hill and directed by Andrew Baird. The film stars Guy Pearce, Matilda Lutz and Travis Fimmel

Pivotal Film's Role

Set in the near future in a colony of state-of-the-art humanoid robots. When its creator’s daughter goes missing, he hires private investigator David Carmichael, to bring her home. David teams up with Jane, a highly advanced and self-aware A.I., to track down the missing daughter. Moving through the dangerous iron jungle, they rapidly piece together the mystery, uncovering a crime that leads them to question the origins of Zone 414 and the true purpose behind the “City of Robots.”

Our role on Zone414 was to develop shots which would enhance the futuristic feel of the film with a strong understanding of the VFX post production requirements.

Filmed in Summer 2020 our direction from Sir Kenneth was to really push the limits in order to see Belfast from a small boys point of view. Our drone footage of the city aims to distort reality and provide a sense of childlike wonderment at the world he inhabits.

How we were involved.

PIVOTAL FILM'S ROLE

As well as providing aerial filming throughout, Pivotal also supplied Location Management services for the feature film. This involved liaising with the Director, Director of Photography and Producer in order to source locations to suit their vision for the film. We sourced locations that not only suited the action but also accommodated the cast and crew. In addition, we negotiated location agreements with providers, took care of traffic management and dealt with all the official permissions required.
